Aprilia RXV 5.5

This lightweight bike's knobby tires and floaty suspension are difficult to manage on the road, but a dream in the dirt. It takes serious discipline not to power slide the rear end in the dirt at low speeds, but when you've gathered enough velocity and need that extra bit of power to get you up a hill or out of a rut, the RXV always delivers. Equally unflappable is the suspension, which offers enough cushion for large surface irregularities and jumps. Ergonomics-wise, the RXV 5.5 is as intensely focused as its powerful engine; the narrow seat is a stratospheric 39.2 inches tall, and the rider's forward position puts the onus on precision, as the rear brake and the 5-speed shifter is a foot's twitch away.

Overall, the Aprilia RXV 5.5 is a tremendously capable offroad bike, and no doubt a handful for most riders.

With the arrival of the new Factory version, the most racing naked and the meanest on the road clearly demonstrates its racing spirit. The new Tuono 1000 R Factory is a truly professional machine for all those riders who demand the state of the art in technology and the absolute maximum in performance. As with the RSV 1000 R Factory, from which it has been derived, the Tuono 1000 R Factory is designed and built for “total ridability”, a concept that has always characterised high performance Aprilia motorcycles.

The Tuono 1000 R Factory sets new standards for performance nakeds. Now, the Tuono 1000 R Factory has raised the bar even higher, establishing the perfect synthesis between quality, technology, and finish.
The performance of the Tuono 1000 R Factory has been boosted to record levels by adopting the same latest generation engine that powers the RSV 1000 R Factory. Now developing 102 kW (139 HP) at the crank and a maximum torque of nearly 11 kgm at only 8,500 rpm, the Aprilia Tuono R Factory is the uncontested leader of all naked twins.

The Tuono Factory is equipped with an even more powerful engine, the latest generation V60 Magnesium, with larger valves and exhausts, a new injection system and modified catalytic converters for a maximum power of 139 HP (102 kW) and a torque of 11 kgm at only 8500 rpm. This increased performance is held in check by an even more refined chassis, featuring a new Öhlins 43 mm upside down fork at the front and an Öhlins piggy back monoshock at the rear. This state of the art production suspension system offers a full range of precision adjustments to match the needs and preferences of any rider and any circuit. The ‘Factory’ is also equipped with prestigious OZ forged aluminium wheels and lighter bodywork, with a carbon fibre belly pan, side panels and mudguards. These weight-saving modifications, plus the use of a frame weighing only 9.6 Kg and an engine that uses magnesium components whenever possible, means that the Tuono Factory tops the scales at a record 181 Kg. The braking system uses four-piston radial calipers with two 320 mm floating discs at the front, and a 220 mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear.
